September 24th we celebrate the Queen’s Birthday 2018 with a well deserved long weekend. We’ve been thinking, what’s the best way to honour this special day of our beloved monarch? Oh who are we kidding? We just love the day off! It’s the Australian way.

Southern MTB – Mountain Bike Festival – 21-23 Sep

What better way to kick off the Queen’s Birthday 2018 long weekend than to take a scenic drive to beautiful Albany and enjoy some extreme sports. The Southern Mountain Biking 2018 weekend promises all the thrills and challenges for participants and spectators alike.

Queen's Birthday 2018Dedicated to bringing Albany to the world stage of mountain biking competitions, Southern MTB will be showcasing Albany and its scenic surrounds as an irresistible destination for mountain bikers from all over the world.

The weekend for 2018 is set to include:

  • Southern Peaks 17km | 37km | 50km
  • Urban Downhill
  • Kids Urban
  • Jump Competition
  • Jump Party (Live Band, DJ, Bar, Food and entertainment!)

Kings Park Festival 2018

We love Spring! One of our favourite things about Spring is WA Wildflower Season. See thousands of these beautiful and captivating wildflowers all blooming in one place; the Kings Park Festival 2018.

Queen's Birthday 2018The festival runs for the whole of September. No better time to make the trip than the Queen’s Birthday 2018 long weekend. Proudly supported by Lotterywest, the festival is in it’s 55th year and is one of the longest running festivals in WA.

There will be an extravaganza of events and activities for art lovers, garden gurus, conservationists and lovers of our beautiful environment.

Hidden Treasure’s of the Great Southern – Bloom Festival

This festival is spread out throughout the Great Southern Region and aims to introduce visitors to the wonders of the region, including magnificent wildflowers, natural attractions such as the Stirling Range, Fitzgerald and Porongurup National Parks, award-winning wines and locally grown foods, open gardens in full bloom, train rides and whale watching along the coast. Not to mention the lovely and quaint local cafe’s and restaurants, war memorials, heritage buildings, museums and much more.

Southern Art & Craft Trail

If you’re an artist or art enthusiast, the Southern Art & Craft Trail is for you.  It is an initiative of ArtSouthWA Inc., an organisation formed to promote and market fine art and craft created by artists living and working in the South West region of Western Australia.
Queen's Birthday 2018Over two weeks, you’ll be able to enjoy art exhibitions, open studios, workshops, demonstrations, artist talks and public art displays at around 93 venues. Meander through the Great Southern and seek out hidden treasure and explore the multi-layered venues – wineries, homes, cafes, shops, district halls and pop-up galleries.

IGA Perth Royal Show

Last but certainly not least, how could we forget, the IGA Perth Royal Show. For over 170 years the Royal Show has been entertaining visitors local and from afar showcasing WA agriculture small business and entertainment.
